As Ordered Written By Colonel Winslow
The names of the Acadians imprisoned in the Church were written by Colonel Winslow and/or his soldiers. This is the list of names contained in the framed lists in the photograph above. The British did not speak French so the names were written by sound. The spellings are mostly incorrect. For the most part, this list does allow us to know the names of those imprisoned in the church of St. Charles for one month as they awaited the arrival of the ships that would deport and scatter them in the colonies.
