Although I have a few ancestors in this census I am surprised that the "crazy" or stubborn ones were not in my line. Lol.

Marie Gaudet & Etienne Hebert are my 7th. G. grandparents.

Huguette Vincent married Jean Bastarche and were my 6th G.Grandparents.

Pierre Commeau & Rose Bayols my 7th. G.Grandparents.

    Hi Lori,

We never know where we'll find them.

I am happy to say I AM descended from BOTH Charles and Pierre Melanson and Pierre's crazy wife. There are plenty of nuts in my family.

I just counted the couples in this census that I am descended from and came up with 39 couples or heads of families here. WOW !!!
    Too numerous to list here.

Wow, John, are those direct-line ancestors? I counted that 36 of the 69 households has a head of household &/or their spouse (usually both) who are my 7th, 8th or 9th great-grandparent!
(And I have only one Cajun grandparent--a Leger(e)!)
Wonder who holds the record? ;) A challenge for the AFC list, Lucie? LOL

Daniel Leblanc and his wife Francoise Gaudet are my 9th great grandparents. And Martin Blanchard and his wife Francoise Leblanc are my 8th greats. I have a Pierre Melanson, who was born 1670 in Port Royal, so maybe Pierre or Charles was his father.

    Hi John & Liz,

You might want to post a query to the AFC list to see how many people go back that many times - or more - or less ;o)

    Hi Marce,

If the Pierre Melanson you have born abt. 1670 was married to Marie Blanchard, his parents were Pierre Melanson and Marguerite Mius d'Entremont. His grandparents: Pierre Melanson dit Laverdure and Priscilla Melanson.

My wife is "Cajun" from St. James Parish, LA. Having been married to her for more than 50 years, I have the honor of being an "Honorary Cajun."

I have all of the Baton Rouge Catholic Diocese books published to date. I haven't a lot of free time to do looks up, but will from time to time for those needing info from this area.
